Addington Writers' Methodology©
Are you curious as to how we will work on your project? Our methodology outlines a typical project from start to finish.
Search & Rescue: We begin by listening, just
listening. Once you’ve told us your obstacles and expectations, we
conduct a rigorous interview process, asking open-ended questions to determine
who you are, what you do, and why your audience should care. The process will
highlight expectations for the project, and outline available
resources at our disposal for the interim of the project. We are able to pinpoint the message you can’t
quite articulate. During this stage, we will determine if in-house writing
standards exist.
Tonal Template: Tone is that pesky little
detail that can offset the entire project if not dealt with properly. It’s
important that your content reflect a tone that is in compliance with your
brand and corporate identity. Before any writing begins, we evaluate the
information received from the Search & Rescue stage and supply a variety of
tone samples. Once your preference and the reasoning have been determined, we
can write according to your preferences throughout the remainder of the
project.
Copy Cat: Our writers will use data
gathered during the first two phases to construct your content and assign messaging categories to the content. Each
piece of content, regardless of your project, will serve as a communications
vehicle on it’s own as well as a part of a cohesive unit related projects within in your company. The Copy
Cat stage ensures the messaging and the content categories are in line with your business
vision.
Copy Edit: We will meet with you, in
person or via telephone, to discuss what gets your attention in the Copy Cat stage and what doesn’t quite spark your interest. We will return to the document to
correct accuracy, terminology, ask questions to further flush out key concepts,
and bring crispness and clarity to the document.
Final Draft & Approval: This is where you see the final
content come together with all phases of revision aligning to construct your
creative, business-minded messaging. This stage can result in further revision
or approval of the project.
Proof & Prep: Our professional proofreaders
take one last look to ensure all the t’s
are crossed and all the i’s are
dotted, and of course to make sense of all those pesky commas. Content
is delivered via your preferred method to you and all specified parties.
