FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

There are a lot of writing firms and freelance writers out there. Why should I work with you?
This is a great question that I encourage you to ask no matter what firm you use for your content needs. Addington Writers is a writing and editing firm that specializes in delivering service details. What that means to you is that we pay attention to deadlines, we strive to exceed expectations, and most importantly we focus on delivering a professional, satisfactory product with a creative, crisp flair.

Is your specialty business writing or creative writing?
Our experience spans from professional business writing to creative writing. Professional experience is tailored to technical writing and marketing writing, while personal experience is focused on creative writing, specifically poetry and feature articles. Addington Writers specializes in business writing with a marketing flair.

Are your rates negotiable?
Within reason, yes. Talk to us, we are willing to help in any way we can.

How long have you been in business?
I personally have been writing since I could hold a pencil, but my professional experience spans more than 7 years. The business has been established for two years.

What's the difference between editing and copyediting?
Great question!

Substantive editing consists of reorganizing and rewriting the document. It's what you'll need when you have taken a stab at your project, realize you're off-base, and need a new direction or fresh perspective.

Copyediting consists of checking for errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, and style. Copyediting ensures a consistent style and clears up any confusion within the document. This process should be done before the document is designed.

Where do I go for employment opportunities with your firm?
Please email employment@addingtonwriters.com for more information. Please include an updated resume. We are always looking for subcontractors. We are currently looking for Technical Writers.

What style guides do you use?
Addington Writers uses the AP Stylebook and the Chicago Manual of Style. Additionally, we can incorporate house style guides into the project if that is your preference.
